Valley Ridge here I come !

Well I’m packing like a mad thing and I’m not sure if I’ll get it all into my suitcase, it seems there is no room for clothes. Oh well !!¬† I’ll just have to teach smelly !
I have such a lovely bunch of students I always take a thank you present it’s the least I can do as some of them have been coming for years !!!!!
These are large fabric tags made from quilting fabrics which I love collecting but don’t always know why. I paint them with white acrylic paint to tone down the design, the motif in the center is a rubber stamped image on a used teabag ( as one man once said to me how did you get them that color; answer : you make a cup of tea ! ) The bottom of the tag is modeling paste through a flower stencil then painted with glitter glue which I love.

I’m going to take this opportunity to use some of¬† Jamie Malden’s Indian wood block stamps, I just love using them with acrylic paint. In the samples shown I printed with acrylic paint then lay painted nappy liners over the top and stitched around the design, I then took a heat gun and zapped away some of the liner. Then I painted the raised areas with metallic paint.

The other sample is printing on a tea bag with a metallic paint and assembling them into a collage, great fun.

The Indian wood blocks can be found at

Italy was wonderful

Our children treated us to a holiday in Lake Como Italy for a week last month. So off we go over to the UK to spend a day with Vicki then next day on to Italy. We were met by our guide Julia and off we went to Lake Como our hotel was in a small town called Menaggio. Everywhere you went you were surrounded by this magnificent lake and to get around a lot of people used the water taxi’s which were great, fast and easy to use. Of course we wanted to sample the food and wine which was not a let down.

Loved this lion, gave me the inspiration to do a piece of new work. Just need to name it now.
